Colorado produces some of the most amazing clouds and this is especially true just before a storm moves in. I grew up in Colorado but spent about 12 years living in Los Angeles which is the land of blue skies. After returning to Colorado about 3 years ago it was like I had a new pair of eyes for the beauty here. It is funny because as a teen I couldn’t wait to move away from here and to the city. After living the city life I can appreciate the open space, Rocky Mountains, stars in the sky and amazing clouds Colorado has to offer. Getting out and taking pictures right before a storm has to be my favorite for getting dramatic skies. This image was taken with an Infrared converted Nikon D70 camera on State Highway 150 heading to the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado. This is the Sangre De Cristo mountain range and Blanca Peak located just outside of the town of Blanca.
