May you Walk in Beauty. Find a way to happiness.
At the world's most prestigious Native American Fine Art show, The Santa Fe Indian Market, the image was awarded Best of Division (Paintings, Drawings, Graphics and Photography) and 1st Place in Photography in 2012. 1st Place in Photography at the Heard Museum Guild Indian Market and Fair. These are 2 of the most prestigious Fine Art events for Native American artists. Through photography, my vision is to keep the old ways alive both in image capture and Navajo culture.
I had visited this location as a child with my father in the 80's. Being Navajo, we were always in the outdoors! Having been here over a dozen times to make a single exposure with the 4x5, I took the image in October around 3:30 am under a full moon night. (You can see the stars filled the sky.) With this attempt in mind, many other nights had no clouds. I then created a 44" Silver Gelatin print in the traditional darkroom in Arizona.
