This location has been photographed many times and it always kept me from shooting there. But after a year of thinking, I went to Bonsai Rock with a plan to try and capture something new or at least that I had not seen or heard of. Armed with flashes, flashlights, LEDs and zip locks I grabbed my chest high fishing waders and set up my camera in 3 feet of water. Setting up two small LEDs on rocks off camera to light the rock above water was working well. Then putting a small high power flashlight in a couple of zip locks I tapped it to the end of a trekking pole that I had with me. This aloud me to get better reach to deeper water, cover more area and move less as to not disturb the water surface. The water color of Lake Tahoe comes out even at night with the right lighting.
