Shot in October of 2012, 1/6th sec @ f 10, ISO 100. Located in the eastern Catskill Mountains, Kaaterskill Falls totals 260' for the two drops. I had to be careful climbing out onto the slippery rocks in the center of the creek. I wanted to include the boulders, with the leaves tucked between them, in the bottom of the frame to anchor the shot so I had to setup real low. It was quite a trick to get out on the rocks with my gear to set the tripod in a steady position. There were other photographers there who were probably just waiting to capture the money shot of me falling in. After a few shots I noticed that a couple of people had hiked past the barricade and signs that block access to the top of the falls. I decided to wait for them to make it up to the ledge of the second drop so I could include them in the frame to add a sense of proportion to the image. It would have helped if they were wearing colors that didn't blend so well with the background, but beggars can't be choosers.
