Take highway 64 East until it reaches the Outer Banks, then several miles North to Nags Head.
I set my camera on a tripod with a 80-400 zoom lens and shot two pictures. One picture was adjusted for the beach and the sky and shot at 80 mm, the second picture was adjusted for the moon and shot at 400 mm. I layered these two pictures together for the final photo.
This is a photo of the "Super Moon" that appeared on March 19, 2011. The last appearance of a super moon was 18 years previous to this. I was shooting from the beach at Nags Head in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
