I took this picture on a farm next to the Appalachian trail and along the Shenandoah River. It was an early morning shot. As the sun came up I reflected the light with a 48" reflector onto the rose bush. The roses are not much wider in diameter then a quarter. The lens was zoomed out to 18mm's and opened up to f/8. I moved in on the roses. " If you think your close get closer", as they say. The depth of field becomes thinner as you move in. I let the mid and background drop out willfully. I used the fence in the background as an easily recognizable element even while engulfed in bokeh.
