I took this image at the South Yuba River State Park, in California. This is one of my favorite local areas to visit, especially in the spring. The tranquility of the river and the abundance of wildflowers make this a place of peace and rest for me. It was an amazing year for the poppies in this area. The intense color and flawless petals attracted me to this single California Tufted Poppy. After trying various compositions, I settled on a very tight crop that illustrated the graceful lines and intricate beauty of the flower petals. The image was processed using Adobe Lightroom 3. My motivation for photography, and especially macro photography, is to explore and appreciate the complex beauty and artistry of creation, and to capture and share small moments of it.
