I spent the night in the car at the Pigeon Point Light Station in hopes that the passing rain would clear up for wonderful sunrise. I was sadly disappointed to wake up to light rain and low clouds. Equalling a grey sunrise . Not wanting to get skunked, I headed South on highway 1 towards Santa Cruz when I got to Davenport I knew this scene (old pier) was somewhere as I had seen images and knew I wanted to locate it. It was not hard to find and when I did the clouds were already burning off and catching a bit of the morning color. I pulled over grabbed the wide angle lens already mounted onto my camera, my 10 stop N/D Lee Big Stopper filter and tripod and sprinted to the cliffs edge (slowly). It pays to never give up!! How I did it. 2 image HDR. The sky was captured with a 1 minute exposure, f22, ISO 100, 10 stop LBS filter. The water was captured with a 4 min exposure, f22, ISO 100, 10 stop LBS filter. Of course all of this took place atop my trusty tripod with the use of my cable release. I also locked up the mirror just for added insurance of a sharp image of the old pier. Merged in PS CS5. https://www.facebook.com/penmanphotographicadventures Please share with your friends and/or leave a critique . God Bless.
