While researching locations for a future overseas trip, I accidentally discovered this beach located on the South Carolina Coast. I had never seen an image from here, or knew this location even existed. However, once I found this place, I knew that I had to photograph here. As this area was due to close in several days for hunting season, I did some quick last minute planning, before setting out. Even though the tide was at a low point during this sunrise, I set up close to one of the dead trees, hoping that the tide would rush out far enough to fill the foreground of my composition. I ended up getting some luck, and was able to convey contrast between the still tree and the textured effects in my foreground, caused by the low but moving tide.
