The beauty of this lake amazes me. I've tried to get a "keeper" at sunrise a few times, only to be frustrated by weather. It snowed the night before we went to Moraine. First snow of the autumn. Hiking pre-dawn through 6" of snow on the pathway to the outlook was too much fun. I wanted the sunrise color on the peaks, but as I'm told, the peaks don't get much color in the fall and winter like the summer months do. But, this day gave me enough, with snow and a lake thats not frozen. Kind of a rare combination for Moraine.
