This picture was taken one morning on the damnation creek trail in the Redwood national forest in California. I had wanted to capture an image of similar nature for a long time but repeated visits to the Redwood forests had not yeilded such luck. On the day of this shoot I was hiking on the trail down to the coast when the fog got so heavy that i could not even see 10 feet in front of me. I decided to retrace my hike and climb back up to higher elevation on the trail. It was when I was hiking back that I saw these godbeams piercing through the thick fog. I got down on the ground and shot from a low angle to further accentuate the giant redwoods and the incredible light.
