North Cascade mountain range in Washington State. About a 2 hour drive from Seattle just outside the town of Sultan, WA
Wild flowers, blueberrys, and huge bees nests just add to the beauty of the trail. In spring and summer look out for bears and wild cats
An extremely challenging hike. Be prepared to settle in for an all day adventure. 7 miles total round trip at 4600 total elevation. Trail head parking available at the top of a steep incline. The final decent to Lake Blanca is the most treacherous with unstable rocks, narrow paths that plumet into deep ravines. However, the view at the end is worth it. The lake water is slightly over freezing and crystal clear. Giant logs float free in the water and there is a tremendous view of a glacier in the distance.
