Take highway 51 north out of Minoqua, Wisconsin about 20 miles and turn right on W to Manitowish Waters. Take W to County G just past Winchester. This picture was taken about 4 miles from where you turn off on G.
There are a lot of small ponds and lakes that have great fall colors. Some of these sites offer great scenic pics all year around, but the fall colors are best depending on the year from the thirds week in August until the second week in October.
Wisconsin may not be known as the state to go to for beautiful fall colors, but there are many areas of the state that offer great photo opportunities to capture some of the best fall colors you can get anywhere. There are hundreds of lakes, waterfalls, scenic rivers, and beautiful wooded areas. Mix in some grist mills, covered bridges, and wildlife and you can spend the rest of your life looking for that next great image. Besides the many lakes and rivers, Wisconsin has many small ponds like this that explode with color in the fall.
