The opportunity to photograph sunrise or sunset intrigues every photographer. I was visiting south Florida last week and got up early to photograph the sunrise under the pier at Hillsboro. I spent about an hour in the dawn and the cloud bank on the horizon wasn't budging. I decided to walk up onto the pier to watch the fisherman and took a chance with my photographers ephemeris app to set up for the sunrise. There wasn't one bird to be seen while I was setting up. As the sun peaked briefly under the cloud bank this group of birds landed right in my shot and the whole shoot lasted less than two minutes until the sun was gone again.
