From Brunswick drive over bridge to causeway to Jekyll Island. Once on the Island go to Beach Drive and go north to the end of Villas by the Sea Resort. There is a parking area on the right. Walk the short path to the beach.
I have photographed in this place with a variety of cameras. For a long time I used various Nikon film and digital cameras with a 105mm macro lens. No longer can use a tripod, so have resorted to wide angle compact, Nikon Coolpix A.
Driftwood Beach is at the north end of Jekyll Island. Arrived late in evening, having driven through fog from Athen, GA to Jekyll Island. Went out to beach and was immediately taken with this scene. The title is Driftwood Beach in the Fog, but it almost should be untitled. What does the viewer feel seeing this image? The beach is eroding away the soil under trees. Pine trees die and float away, but live oaks do not float away they settle in wonderful Dr. Seus shapes. A wonderful place to view sunrise. Be sure and note tide schedule. At high tide beach is under water.
