My favorite place happens to be right where I live on Crooked Lake in Northern Minnesota's Itasca County and the Chippewa National Forest. In late September of 2012,I was doing fall clean- up out in the yard one evening, when this beautiful golden light presented itself. I had only enough time to run into the house and grab my Canon Xti Rebel fitted with the 15-55 kit lens and quickly find the best composition and then take a couple hand held shots before the light started to fade. What I like best about this shot was, that I was able to capture, in my opinion, this gorgeous scene as I saw it, hand held, on budget equipment and the spur of the moment. It's a good reminder for me on what the true essence of photography is all about and why I fell in love with making pictures in the first place. Don't always worry about having all the best gear and getting hung up on the technical side of it.
