I had spent all of "sunrise" time ready, and waiting, for the color to come. The pinks and reds and purples never did come though. I had packed my backpack and turned to follow the trail down the mountain when I rounded a corner and was blown away by the sunlight that had just crested a ridge. Everything had turned golden in an instant. I ran back to my spot and tried to re-position back to my carefully calculated composition, and squeezed off this shot before the light grew too harsh.
