Banks, Oregon is near Highway 26 - from there take Highway 6 West towards Tillamook. The river parallels much of the highway.
After belaying a driftboat down a treacherous launch with 70-80 degree inclines, one person must still climb back to the top to drive the truck and trailer to the pick up point. The person who waits to guard the boat and gear is afforded plenty of time on the shore to wonder about until the right show can be found. It is no small feat when dawn light is just creeping up the river and through the leaves turning colors above.
