I almost missed this sunrise. It was the last day of a 10 day trip across Utah. I woke up, checked the sky and saw it was mostly clear. I decided to get breakfast instead of going to shoot, but I also brought along all my camera gear. Just as I was halfway through breakfast I looked out the window and saw dark storm clouds gathering behind the Temple of the Virgin, and sunrise was just 10 minutes away. I paid and rushed out to the site. Just as I was walking around the corner into this clearing, the sky started to light up all around me. I dropped my camera bag right where I was standing and began shooting with whatever lens and settings were on the camera from the night before-no time to adjust anything. It was the most breathtaking sunrise I have ever seen. Several times I stopped shooting just to take in what was happening around me. I can't believe I almost missed this one!
