Dead Horse Point State Park is near Canyonlands National Park in Utah.

Description

This dramatic view shows the Colorado River making a U-shaped bend around Dead Horse Point. Near the beginning of the 20th century, it is said that cowboys used the point to corral and pen wild mustangs for culling. According to the legend, during one occasion when the mustangs were penned on the point, they were left without water and died of thirst within sight of the river 2000 feet below.
