Gardiner, Montana is located at the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park. From town, you can head east up the hill 5 miles to an abandoned mine just outside of Jardine.
A below zero morning in the mountains east of Gardiner, MT. Frost and ice crystals covered everything. I was driving some of the roads above Jardine (an old mining town) searching for a view that might look out over the North Entrance to Yellowstone. I couldn't find the view I was looking for but all of the aspens were covered with ice and I found a small tree with a little light. I took several shots of branch tips and dead, curled up leaves, some with the snow in the background and some with the blue sky.
