After checking the weather for clear skies I decided to take a two hour ride from Houlton down to Millinocket and up the Golden Road to Abol Bridge to capture Mt Katahdin with the last of the remaining snow under a blanket of stars. To do this I left around sunset so I could get in there by 9:30 pm which would give me a little over an hour to photograph under dark skies before the moon came up just before 11 pm. After taking a few photos I was treated to a small flare up of Northern Lights adding to the beautiful Maine sky. I used a combination of 5 images to make this photo. Four images stacked for the sky for less noise, and one 6 minute exposure for some of the foreground and mountain at a lower ISO. Hope you enjoy!
