It has been wildlife Sunday here at the house. This morning as I was out in the garden I saw a red tailed hawk land in one of the old maple trees. I ran to grab the big lens and found the hawk in the bushes. Then he flew up to a small limb that had come down in the last storm and posed for a few portraits. Then again he took of and flew a little deeper into the forest. This photo was shot after he landed in the forest and as the early morning light was filtered through the canopy. I was treated to 45 minutes with this fantastic creature. Then just after noon we were treated to two mature bald eagles soaring over the house on their way to one of the NYC reservoirs for lunch. Oh did I mention the red shouldered hawk was in the back yard as well.
