TAKE HIGHWAY 198 EAST FROM VISALIA AND GO ABOUT 40 MILES UP THE LONG, SLOW AND WINDING ENTRANCE TO THE PARK. STOP NEAR THE TOP AT THE GENERAL STORE IN GIANT FOREST AND FINF THE ROAD TO MORO ROCK WHICH IS CLOSED IN WINTER. YOU SHOULD SEE SOME TRACKS IN THE SNOW LEADING THAT WAY. THE ROAD HEADS DUE SOUTH. IT'S 2 MILES TO MORO ROCK

Notes

I SNOWSHOED FROM GIANT FOREST ON EASTER SUNDAY TOWARDS MORO ROCK THROUGH A BEAUTIFUL SEQUIOA TREE FOREST. A BLACK BEAR, 50 FEET TO MY RIGHT SURPRISED ME BUT HE JUST SAT THERE AND WATCHED ME QUICKLY LEAVE THE AREA. MORO ROCK HAS SOME SNOW AND ICE ON IT BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET THIS PICTURE AS THE FOG WAS ROLLING IN. THE GREAT WESTERN DIVIDE IS IN THE BACKGROUND
