Description
The brightly colored dewlap which hangs from the neck of an anole is for the purpose of attracting mates. Mature males will seek out a perch in their territory like this cypress knee and execute a choreographed set of head bobs, push-ups and dewlap movements. Receptive females will then make themselves visible or approach the male for breeding.
