US 191 North out of Moab to Arches National Park entrance. Drive 9.2 miles up the Arches Entrance Road, and then take the first right after Balanced Rock into the Windows section of the park. You will follow this road 2.7 miles to its end at a circle for the Windows Trail. The Double Arch Trailhead is located at the north end of the circle at the far north of the parking lot.
No visit to Arches National Park can be considered complete without viewing the night sky! The Star Trail ‘comets’ in this image were created by stacking 45 consecutive, 30-second exposures manually in Photoshop (which is easier than it sounds). The rocks were light painted (legal in this Park if you’re not part of a commercial workshop) and blended in with the trails. For all you astro geeks out there, the bright bluish streak within the upper arch are the trails from The Pleiades. The bright yellow streak slightly above-left of that is the star Aldebaran. Both of these combine to form the constellation Taurus.
