One thing we get in Iowa is Winter. This photo was taken several years ago on Fuji Velvia slide film, and I just recently scanned it to convert it to a digital format. This was a very cold day...about 12 below zero if I remember correctly. A small patch of frost had formed on our basement family room window. We have a rock garden just outside the window with a large lava rock in it. The sun was shining over the rock and lit up the frost for me and kept the back of the rock in deep shadow. That gave me a nice dark background for the frost.
