Description
A gray whale and her calf are dwarfed by the kelp forest along the Big Sur Coast. Each spring, gray whales make the journey north from the warm lagoons of Baja to their feeding grounds in Alaska. Mothers lead their calves very close to the shoreline to avoid predation by killer whales. This gives us a bird's eye view as they pass beneath the cliffs in Big Sur.
