On Chhonbardon Glacier below Dhaulagiri I, the seventh highest mountain in the world. I traveled to Nepal in late November 2018, my first trip back in 27-years - to specifically hike the Dhaulagiri Circuit, one of the most difficult treks in Nepal do to its remoteness, high altitude and objective hazards. My motivation was to retrace the path of the Dhaulagiri/Annapurna Expedition by the French in 1950, the first to ever conquer an 8,000 meter peak and one of the greatest exploratory mountaineering endeavors in history. I was completely blown away with how much territory they covered using inaccurate maps and unreliable beta from locals. I hope to return to attempt the summit of Dhaulagiri in 2020.
