I roll around the rivers of Florida in a kayak from time to time, and nothing thrills me more than coming across juvenile American alligators. Even though I wasn't actually prepared to take this shot, it has long been a favorite, because his eye seems to offer a glimpse into the realness of the soul within. American alligators are apex predators and keystone species of the wetland ecosystems. Crocodilians have been around for almost 200 million years and are crucial to the survival of numerous other species in the wetlands - wetlands that recharge the drinking water and serve as vital habitat for many species of plants and wildlife. Through wildlife and conservation photography, I attempt to educate and inspire the public towards conservation practices.
