Let me start with this: The colors in this image are 100% REAL. Absolutely nothing enhanced or altered. It was truly an out-of-this-world sunset we experienced a couple of days ago in the Wet Mountain Valley in South Central Colorado. FYI: The Wet Mountain Valley is known for crazy weather patterns and on this particular afternoon a massive snowstorm cloud had been building to the South for hours. When the sunset peaked it looked like a giant color explosion reaching seemingly all the way into the stratosphere. Even the 13,000+ ft high Spanish Peaks are dwarfed by this cloud inferno. I took this photo over a distance of about 42 miles - that's how huge this storm cloud was and when you look closely you can even see a big lenticular cloud embedded in the center of the storm.
