Colorado CR 69
It took me a while to get the full frontal image but patience pays: I had noticed that this particular hummingbird seemed to have a favorite spot on an aspen branch where he occasionally briefly sat down. Only for a few seconds and then he was gone again. I positioned myself with my 500mm lens far enough away to not irritate him and with the sun behind me, so that his iridescent throat would hopefully be illuminated. And waited. As calculated, he stopped by a couple of times but each time only giving me his back or his side. Finally, he came buzzing in, sat on his branch - and turned his tiny body towards the lens, displaying his incredible colors in the full light of the midmorning sun. Simply stunning!
