Nantucket Island can be accessed via ferry from Hyannis on Cape Cod or from major airports in the Northeast. The lighthouse can be accessed via four wheel drive vehicle from the village of Wauwinet and is approx a 20 min drive out to the lighthouse.
Great Point Lighthouse on the far northeastern point of Nantucket Island has been a guiding light for mariners since 1784. The only way to it is via four whee drive vehicles over sand. The original was washed away in a Northeaster in 1984 and rebuilt in 1986. Even today, it protects mariners from the shoals that surround the island.
