Photographed at Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge, Chatham, MA The Least Sandpiper is the smallest member of the sandpiper family, no bigger than a sparrow. On the coast it can be seen foraging in mudflats, grassy marshes, rainpools, and shores for tiny crustaceans, insects, and snails. It is currently widespread and common and its numbers are considered stable.
