Colorado CR 69
Ten minutes before I took this photo I was standing in complete fog whiteout and couldn't see 100 yards. But I had been to this location before and knew that there was a tree at the base of the foothills. Suddenly, as if someone flipped a switch, I could see the fog starting to lift, the first blue hole popping up and then it was time for the great reveal: Fresh powder, a lone tree and total serenity. The magic of winter.
There was still a lot of moisture in the air from the lifting fog, which gave the entire scenery a slightly soft touch. I enhanced this peaceful look just a tiny little bit more by sliding the "Clarity" button in Lightroom a fraction to the left, keeping the image soft.
