The island can be accessed by ferries from Hyannis, MA or planes from major airports in the Northeast US
Nantucket was the world's largest whaling port during the 1800's. Known now as an exclusive summer location, many of its homes and mansions belonged to the whaling captains whose ships sailed the world. It's historic commission has preserved much of the island's charm from that era. You will not find a stop light, electric sign, or any fast food franchise on the island. Main Street, with its cobblestones and small quaint shops brings visitors back to a quieter, less complicated life.
