Description
On this mostly-clear evening high above the ground in the Bluff Mountain Fire Tower in Sevier County, Tennessee, I could see for miles on end. To my south were the gradually taller and taller peaks of the Smoky Mountains and to my north were rolling hills only interrupted by a distant ridgeline. I arrived about 20 minutes before sunset hoping no one else would be there, and to my surprise, I had the whole view to myself. After reaching the top of the graffiti-covered tower, I took plenty of time to take in the view and photograph it. The frequent wind gusts rattled the tower a bit, but I decided to place my faith in the fact that the tower has stood valiantly for so long. The various cloud formations allowed for a very unique sunset. The scene differed between each part of the sky.
