This was photographed in the large city park of Sonsbeek, right in the middle of Arnhem city. Less than five minutes of walk from the central station, you end up being in a forest area.
2021 marks the biggest snowstorm the Netherlands has had in the last 10 years. As it is highly unusual for the region, I started a series on how the local wildlife was adapting to these exceptional winter conditions. Here we have a European shag overlooking whilst standing on the banks of a partly frozen river.
