Description
At the entrance to Nantucket's harbor, the Jetties (extending out over 5,000 feet into Nantucket Sound (separating the island from Cape Cod) are a welcome sign to mariners who make the trek to the island. Built in 1889, they have become a symbol that you've arrived. During high tide, much of them are covered. Regulars taking their vehicles back and forth on the Steamship Authority Ferries, know once you reach the Jetties, it's time to proceed to the freight deck to get ready to dive off the boat.
