Start at the Elkhart Park trailhead just outside Pinedale. Take the Pole Creek Trail, to the Seneca Lake Trail where it joins the Highline Trail just past Little Seneca Lake. Follow the Highline Trail to the Titcomb Basin Trail to Island Lake. The falls are on the north side of the lake.
Several packers operate out of Pinedale. It is approximately 14 miles of tough hiking to Island Lake.
Island Lake sits at the gateway to the Titcomb Basin, one of the most spectacular places in the lower 48 states. The meltwater stream that flows through the basin enters Island lake over a series of step falls.
