From Page, AZ, drive west on Highway 89 for 34 miles (55 kilometers). Drive past the BLM Contact Station and the road to the White House trailhead. Turn left onto House Rock Valley Road. This road is compacted dirt. The Wire Pass trailhead is 8.3 miles (13.4 kilometers) down this dirt road. Another mile or so is where I parked.
This is Coyote Buttes South and not nearly as popular as the north buttes. No people or even foot prints at the time. It is not as dramatic an area but I wanted something unique, not another shot of "the wave"
Dune grass scribes a circle in the sand. Back drop is petrified sand dunes. The lovely light was due to the leading edge of a tropical depression coming up from Baja. I was cut off by flash floods later that day and had to wait for earth moving equipment to repair House Rock rd. Was it worth it? hell yea!
