Enter Canmore Alberta on Highway 1. Go through town and exit the south end on the Smith Dorrian road. This pond is situated just outside of town, across the road from the Canmore Nordic Center.
The peak on the left is Ha Ling Peak, named for a Chinese cook with the Canadian Pacific Railway who took on a bet he couldn't climb the peak in less than 10 hours. He did it in half that time. The year was 1896.
Beautiful place situated just south of Canmore. Early morning in summer seems to produce the calmest conditions. This is the gateway into the Spray Lakes Valley.
