Tourists and photographers alike travel to Page, Arizona to see the amazingly beautiful "Antelope Canyon" -- a red rock canyon carved out by water that beautifully reflects light into various abstract colors and shapes. Located nearby is another attraction: Horseshoe Bend. Several miles north of the Grand Canyon, this spot is just as spectacular. Also carved out by the Colorado River, this bend in the river creates a beautiful scene. The wide angle lens makes this deceptive -- I was standing on the edge of a thousand foot drop! Summer in Arizona is monsoon season and when I arrived at Horseshoe Bend, plenty early, I noticed a storm blowing in. As I waited I started seeing lighting land all around me. I raced back to my car just as the rain started to come down. 15 minutes later the storm passed through and I was able to head back out to The Bend. To my delight, another storm began to blow in, just as the sun set and directly behind Horseshoe Bend. I was able to capture the sunset in the incoming monsoon to create this beautiful image.
