Edited in Adobe Lightroom 3 for exposure, cropping, color, and clarity.
On a late spring afternoon, I was struggling to capture the mood of this beautiful redwood forest. The extreme shadows and shafts of light made choosing a subject very challenging. Looking up through the canopy, I finally found the shot, but still couldn't find the right exposure. I decided on a slow zoom. I shot this at f/22 at 4.0 seconds, 1250 ISO. I used a B+W circular polarizing filter and a Gitzo Mountaineer tripod.
