This was taken at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography's pier in La Jolla, California. They use the pier for research. It is located right by UCSD. When it is a low tide, the beach is more accessible.
This was the first time I ever tried long exposure. It was in winter. The water was freezing since this was right after sunset. I had a $10 tripod meant for point-n-shoots. The tripod legs were in the water and so were mines. It was a bit windy too, and thus making it feel even more freezing. It all worked out in the end though.
