The forecast called for sunny skies and no clouds. Around mid afternoon, some clouds began to roll in from the north so I decided to head out and see if anything would happen. I knew there was going to be something spectacular because the clouds had plenty of breaks in them and didn't cover the entire sky. I searched around for some foreground elements when out of nowhere I turn around and see this bright red mountain peak lighting up the region behind me. It really looked as if it were on fire. I've seen intense red color on mountains before, but never this rich. I had to blend exposures even with the grad ND to compensate for the rich reds.
