Calf Creek Recreation Area is located 8 miles south of Boulder, UT on Rt 12. The falls are reached by hiking 3 miles on the trail designated by signs in the area.
The trail is difficult to follow due to many changes in direction at non-intuitive locations. It is best to follow others who are familiar with the trail. Along the way are petroglyphs, interesting rock formations, and flowers. Birds are also seen along the trail near the creek.
Lower Calf Creek Falls is one of the most beautiful falls in the USA. It is reached after a 3 mile hike on a rocky, sandy trail along Lower Calf Creek. The colors on the walls are outstanding, and the pattern of the falls is interesting because of the shelf near the top that collects water, and then it flows from several places to create the whole effect.
