Grand Prize Winner Tomas Kaspar

Touch Of Light

On a morning walk through Redwoods National Park in California with his family, Tomas Kaspar finally got his shot. They had been there trying to take pictures for a week, but the fog would not let them. He captured this scene on the lastmorning of his trip after sunrise.”We just decided to go for a last walk, and the fogmoved in,” he recalls. They knew the area, having hiked the path they were on before, and hoped that the sun would burn through the fog.”Eventually that is exactly what happened for a brief moment,” he says.

Kaspar’s image takes top prize with winnings that include $1,500, a Gitzo GT2541 Carbon Fiber tripod and GH2780QR head, a Tamrac Aero Speed Pack 85 Dual Access Photo/Laptop backpack, a PNY 8 GB Hi-Speed Class 6 SDHC memory card, a Duggal 16×20 print of his photo, a LumiQuest ProMax System and a full pass to the Telluride Photo Festival.
