From Brevard, NC, travel west on US 64. At Sapphire, turn left on NC 281 and go south to the Whitewater Falls entrance.
This is an amazing waterfall. We have been there on numerous occasions, but the water was much more bountiful this trip.
Upper Whitewater Falls is the highest waterfall east of the Rockies, plunging 411 feet. The area has had a large amount of moisture due to the heavy snow during winter and abundant rainfall during the spring. It can be viewed from the top and two overlooks on 154 wooden steps.
