While driving back to the campground late one afternoon I noticed the sun starting to break out below the cloud cover along with the light coming through the rising steam. I barely had time to pull off the road, attach the telephoto lens, and compose the shot. No time to grab the tripod as the light was fading fast. The people on the boardwalk adds to the scale of the feature.
Grand Prismatic thermal feature in Yellowstone is perhaps the most colorful, most photographed feature in the park. There is a hill nearby which offers an amazing birds-eye view during daylight.
